The main window appears as follows:
The toolbar of the main window is customizable by the user; that
is, you can move buttons around, remove buttons, etc. To customize
the toolbar, simply double-click a portion of the toolbar that does
not have any buttons on it. To find such an area if one is not
presently visible, simply grab the right edge of the main window
with your mouse and move it to the right to expand the width of the
window and thus the toolbar. Your toolbar settings will remain in
effect for each use of the program; if different logged-on users
create different toolbar arrangements, each user will get his own
arrangement whenever he starts the program.

Change Fonts | Allows you to
change the English font settings |
Charity | Opens a window
that allows you to specify values for producing a report on charity
pledges, payments, etc. |
Deposit | Opens a window
that allows you to specify values for producing a report on
deposits. |
Payee Payments | Opens a window
that allows you to specify values for producing a report on
payments made to your payees |
Credit | Produces a
report displaying credit amounts available to members |
Credit Used | Produces a
report displaying credit amounts used by members |
Committee | Produces a
listing of committee membership |
Seating | Produces a
listing of seat assignments or a chart of your seating
arrangements |
Plots | Produces a
report displaying cemetery plot assignments |
Pending Notifies | Produces a
report displaying pending yahrzeit notifications |
Library | Produces a
report of the contents of your library |
Round Robin | Produces
various reports displaying Round Robin
givers and receivers. |
Relationships | Produces a
report displaying information about relationships that you have
previously entered into the database. |
Memo | Produces
report displaying memo contents for all members that have a memo
value. Also displays date created, date updated, and date last
read. |
Special Arrangements | Produces
report displaying special arrangement data for all members that
have special arrangements |
User | Allows you to
select a user template and print forms based on that
template. |
Preview Re-do | Will allow you
to re-print any report that was previously saved in internal
format. |

Change Database Desc | Lets you
modify the Database
Description. |
Print Labels | If any labels
have been internally produced as a result of either selecting names
or producing forms for names, you can click here to actually
preview or print them. |
Create Mail Merge | Creates a .txt
text file that can be used as input for Microsoft Word (or other
word processing software) mail merge function to print labels,
envelopes, etc. |
Memos | Allows you to
erase or restore previously erased memos. |
Edit Templates | Opens and
displays your Templates file,
CMS.TXT, with color-coding, so that valid Symbolics are in blue, invalid symbolics
are in magenta, your text is in black, and template boundaries are
in red. You can right-click on the display window to display a list
of the various colors and what type of element they represent. You
use this window to view, edit, and save your changes to
templates. |
Create Charity Sheet | Using this
feature, you can produce a spreadsheet that displays each member’s
name and the amount he gave last year for a particular charity and
have a blank column to enter an amount to be pledged to that
charity for this year. This is helpful when conducting telephone
campaigns to solicit donations for the particular charity. See

Seating | Allows you to
reset seats or move regular assignments to last year assignments or
regular assignments to permanent assignments. |
Send updates to accounting package | If enabled,
this means you have accumulated updates to send to your accounting
package and clicking here will send the updates. |
Reciprocate Round Robin | Clicking this
action item will perform reciprocation for all members that have
the Want Reciprocation box checked on the Round Robin window. This is another way to
perform reciprocation, in addition to the Reciprocate button of the
Round Robin window. |
Clear Round Robin | Allows you to
clear all Round Robin
data. |
Special | Opens up a
list of various special actions; see Special Actions. |
Options Opens a window to allow you to modify and set
various options. See Options

Contents | Displays Help

About Compugene | Displays the
release level you are running and details about your
database. |
Full msg | If checked,
this option displays full message numbers on messages
(recommended). |
View pgm settings | Allows you to
view values copied from the Windows registry, which contains
various settings for your system. |
View log | Displays the
log of the database that is currently open. Be aware that log
messages always go into the log for the database that was opened
first during execution of the program. If you open a
different database while executing the program, remaining log
messages will continue to be written to the log of the
initially-opened database. |
Error messages | If you enter a
message number, you can get further information about that
message. |
Features | Displays which
features you have installed with your current version of the system
and which features you do not have installed. To find out about
features you may desire but do not have installed, please contact
Compugene Software. |
Updates | Displays the level of the program that you are currently running and displays a list of the most recent updates by update number and with full description of the update. An update can either be a correction to a problem or a new feature that was added to the program. |
Other information on the main window:
The Compugene Logo button: if you press this button, the
system will display the release level you are running and details
about your database
In the center of the Main Window is displayed the name of your
open database, followed by a description of your
database. If you click on this field, the Database Description window will open and
allow you to modify the description information.
Toward the bottom of the Main Window, there are 8 panels
displayed:

Log: At the bottom of the Main Window, you have a running
log that displays actions you have performed during this use of the
system. This data is also stored in your databasename.LOG file. You
can scroll this data on the main window, but remember that the
oldest data is at the bottom of the log and the most recent is at
the top of the log.
