Compugene Membership System

Producing Member Listings, Labels, Index Cards

To display/print member listings, member labels, or index cards, please click the menu item Function on the Main Window
and then select Listings or Labels or Index Cards.

The Listings option allows you to display/print your entire membership database or selected records based on a range that you can enter in the window.that will appear.

The Labels option allows you to display/print address labels for all or a selected subset of your membership.

The Index Cards option allows you to display/print index aliyah cards with English and/or Hebrew names for your aliyah card file that can be used by the Gaboyim on Sabbath when calling people for aliyahs.

LISTINGS

You can choose to print Listings of your member roster or your non-member roster. For the member roster, you can select which fields to print from a window that is displayed after you click the print button. You can also select which font and font size to print with.

To select a range of records, use the Selection choice in the Print dialog box that is opened when you click on the Print button. You can specify the starting record to print by putting a letter or sequence of letters in the start print box. The letters you specify must be part of a name that is in the database. For example, if you specify "A", then at least one record in your database must start with "A". You can be more specific by typing an exact last name or part of a last name. For example, if you have a record with last name "Diamond", you can start printing with that name by entering "Dia" in the starting name box.

*Note: See the Add command for details on how to create a name2 line.

LABELS

The LABELS menu option allows you to print labels in either continuous form (impact or dot matrix) or laser (ink-jet) format, based on the most popular Avery label styles for your member/non-member roster. Click on the Label menu and follow the instructions to print labels based on your selection. For multi-column/row forms, you can choose at which row and column to start the print. You can choose the copy count and can thus print multiple copies of a group of labels or multiple copies of a single label.
Labels are printed in the sequence that they are currently sorted, via the Sort command. You can check the current sort sequence by using the View command or by clicking on the Sort menu and determining which sort field has a check mark next to it.
Labels can be chosen for printing based on the following criteria:

a range of names specifying starting member name/ending member name
all records within the database

You can choose the font that will appear on the labels, and also the size of the font, via a font-choice window that will appear during the labels-function dialog. If you choose a font size that is too big (height or width) for your chosen label size, you will be given the opportunity to choose a different font size or print anyway. It is a good idea to try the label function on regular paper before inserting label stock into your printer, to verify lineup and fit. Continuous form labels will have 1 test label printed first.

Tip: To print one page of the same label, choose the “selection” check box on the Printer box and also set the copies in this box to the number of labels that fit on 1 page of the form you are using. Then on the selection window, enter the same name in the starting name field and in the ending name field.

INDEX CARDS

Use the Index Cards option to format and print index cards with last aliyah date and Hebrew names of your members so that you can create an aliyah card file to use when calling people for honors.
